Barry Town United suffered a frustrating 3–1 defeat to Haverfordwest County at Jenner Park, with the visitors taking advantage of difficult weather conditions and a late spell of pressure to claim all three points.
In windy and wet conditions, the Town battled hard throughout the evening. Despite a much-improved second-half performance and a late goal from Noah Daley, Barry were unable to complete a comeback.
First Half
Before kick-off, supporters observed a minute’s applause in honour of club legend Ken Gully.
With the wind swirling around Jenner Park, both sides faced challenging conditions in the opening exchanges. Barry looked to threaten early on when Dan Barton was fouled on the edge of the box, but Owen Cuddihy’s free-kick was comfortably dealt with by the Haverfordwest goalkeeper.
The visitors looked dangerous from long throws, putting pressure on the Barry defence, while Noah Daley and Owen Cuddihy combined well down the left-hand side. Cuddihy delivered a superb low ball into the box, but Elliott Dugan was unable to turn it home.
James Lester was shown a yellow card in the 16th minute, with Haverfordwest continuing to enjoy spells of possession as the half progressed.
Barry began to grow into the contest and thought they had taken the lead in the 27th minute. Jack Shaw produced a brilliant run from halfway, showing great skill as he drove into the penalty area before finding Noah Daley, who finished. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.
The Town continued to build momentum, with Barton winning a corner following some neat play down the right, but neither side could find the breakthrough before the visitors struck.
In the 41st minute, Haverfordwest took the lead. A corner was initially cleared to the edge of the penalty area, where Rhys Abbruzzese struck towards goal. With the difficult weather conditions playing their part, George Ratcliffe was unable to keep the effort out, leaving Barry trailing at the break.
Despite four minutes of added time, the Town went into half-time a goal behind.

Second Half
Barry came out looking to respond after the interval and immediately began pushing forward in search of an equaliser.
Mikey George delivered a superb left-footed cross in the 51st minute, which was cleared behind for a corner. From the resulting delivery, Lester headed narrowly wide.
The Town continued to apply pressure, with Barton and Callum Sainty both going close. Sainty’s header from another corner forced a low save from the Haverfordwest goalkeeper, while Barton’s curling effort later drifted wide.
Barry were increasingly on top, but clear-cut opportunities proved difficult to come by in the challenging conditions. There was further frustration when Daley went down inside the penalty area on two occasions, but the referee waved play on.
At the other end, Lester produced an important goal-line clearance in the 74th minute to prevent Haverfordwest from doubling their advantage.
However, the visitors eventually found a second goal in the 79th minute. Ratcliffe produced an outstanding save to deny Haverfordwest, but Corey Shephard made it two for the visitors.
The afternoon became even more difficult for Barry when Owen Cuddihy was shown a second yellow card, reducing the Town to ten men.
Despite the setback, Barry refused to give up. Jadyn Crosbie was brought down on the left-hand side, giving the hosts a free-kick. The resulting delivery caused problems in the Haverfordwest penalty area, and Daley reacted quickest to force the ball home in the 83rd minute.
With the score at 2–1, the Town had renewed hope of rescuing something from the contest.
However, that hope was short-lived. Almost immediately after the restart, Haverfordwest broke forward and created three opportunities that required desperate defensive interventions before Ben Ah-Mun finally found the net for a third goal in the 85th minute.
Sion Spence tried his luck late on, but the wind once again affected the effort as Barry searched for another response.
Six minutes of added time were indicated, but the Town could not find another goal, bringing a frustrating afternoon at Jenner Park to an end.

Barry Town United 1–3 Haverfordwest County
Barry goalscorer: Noah Daley (83′)
The Town will be disappointed not to have taken anything from the game, particularly after a second-half performance in which they enjoyed long spells of pressure. However, Haverfordwest made the most of their opportunities to leave Jenner Park with the points.
