The Town return to winning ways with a convincing victory at Jenner Park
Barry Town United returned to winning ways on Friday night with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Trefelin BGC at Jenner Park, in a game which also saw the visitors reduced to ten men in the first half.
The Town started brightly, with Trefelin enjoying some early possession before Barry began to grow into the contest. Rhys Schwank won the hosts an early corner, with Dan Barton delivering into the box and captain Callum Sainty heading narrowly wide.
Noah Daley went close shortly afterwards, winning possession from a Trefelin throw-in before trying his luck from distance, but his effort drifted just wide.
Barry continued to apply pressure and were rewarded in the 16th minute. Another corner from Dan Barton caused problems in the Trefelin penalty area, with the goalkeeper inadvertently turning the delivery into his own net. The goal was awarded to Barton as the Town took a deserved lead.
The hosts continued to threaten, with Keston Davies seeing an effort towards the bottom corner well saved by the visiting goalkeeper following good work from Callum Sainty.
Barry doubled their advantage in the 30th minute after Davies was brought down inside the penalty area during a scramble from another Barton corner. The referee pointed to the spot and showed a Trefelin player a red card.
Elliott Dugan stepped up and made no mistake, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and finding the top-left corner to make it 2-0.
The Town were firmly in control and added a third in the 36th minute. After some neat footwork inside the penalty area, Noah Daley found the back of the net to cap off an excellent first-half performance.
Callum Sainty went close to adding a fourth before the break, forcing another good save from the Trefelin goalkeeper, as Barry headed into half-time with a three-goal advantage.

The second half saw Barry continue to control proceedings, although Trefelin looked to find a way back into the contest despite their numerical disadvantage.
The visitors threatened early on, with a header from their number 18 finding the side netting at the back post before another effort was comfortably collected by George Ratcliffe.
Barry looked dangerous on the counter-attack, with Noah Daley finding Ellis Williams down the left-hand side, whose delivery towards Dugan was claimed by the goalkeeper.
The Town made their first changes shortly after the hour mark, with Josh Bernard and Jadyn Crosbie introduced in place of Elliott Dugan and Ellis Williams.
Barry continued to create opportunities, with a goal-saving tackle and subsequent block denying Bernard following a Town corner.
Sion Spence and Dan Smith were also introduced as the game progressed, with Barry looking to manage their advantage and see out the victory.
George Ratcliffe was called into action in the 78th minute, producing a diving save to deny Trefelin after the visitors picked up a loose ball and fired towards goal.
At the other end, Noah Daley produced some excellent footwork to beat his marker before finding Spence, but the substitute was unable to get his effort on target.
Keston Davies, recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, caused some concern after going down following an excellent challenge. Thankfully, he was able to walk off under his own steam before returning to the pitch shortly afterwards.
Barry continued to push for a fourth in the closing stages, with Dan Smith seeing the ball hit the net, only for the referee to have already blown for a free-kick following an aerial challenge involving the goalkeeper and Noah Daley.
The Town had one final opportunity in stoppage time when a dangerous delivery from Spence travelled across the penalty area, but Crosbie couldn’t quite connect. Another short corner then found Spence inside the box, although his first-time effort drifted wide.
The final whistle confirmed a comfortable evening for the Town, who secured all three points and a clean sheet at Jenner Park.
