Barry Town United AFC and Make Your MARK Unite to Champion Mental Health and Community Wellbeing Through Football

Barry Town United AFC, one of Wales’ most storied football clubs, is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Make Your MARK, the mental health charity dedicated to supporting people through the transformative power of motorcycling, Motorbiker Acts of Random Kindness, and motorbiker-led initiatives to strengthen our community. Together, the two organisations aim to break down mental health stigma, inspire resilience, and strengthen the bonds between sport and wellbeing in Barry and beyond.

With roots stretching back to 1892, Barry Town United AFC has been at the heart of its community for over a century, weathering triumphs, tragedies, and transformation. From its Southern League success of the 1920s and its historic Welsh Cup victory in 1955 to European nights at Jenner Park, Barry Town has always embodied the spirit of perseverance. This spirit aligns perfectly with the mission of Make Your MARK, which works tirelessly to support mental health, promote kindness, and remind people that they are never alone.

The partnership will see a series of joint initiatives at Jenner Park, including mental health awareness campaigns on matchdays, workshops for players and fans, and fundraising events designed to benefit local communities and the charity’s projects across Wales.

“We are delighted to join forces with Make Your MARK,” said Ollie Waterhouse at Barry Town United AFC. “Our club’s history is steeped in resilience, determination, and a deep connection to our supporters. By working with Make Your MARK, we can use our platform to champion mental health and inspire our community to look out for one another — Stronger Together on and off the pitch.”

Make Your MARK was founded to encourage small, meaningful actions supporting mental wellbeing through the power of motorcycling and how it can change lives. Football has these exact same strengths and benefits. Through its partnership with Barry Town, the charity aims to create safe non-judgemental spaces for conversations about mental health, stories of hope and togetherness so that everyone feels valued.

“Football, like motorcycling, brings people together in powerful ways,” said Paul Sims, Chairperson at Make Your MARK. “We’re honoured to work alongside Barry Town United, whose proud heritage and loyal supporters embody the same kindness and community spirit that we champion. Together, we’ll make a real difference.”

This collaboration reflects Barry Town’s ongoing commitment to its supporters and community — much like it has done for more than a century — and marks a new chapter in its proud history.
