Haverfordwest vs Barry Town United | Nathaniel MG Cup | Match Report

Barry travelled to Pembrokeshire to face JD Cymru Premier hosts in the shape of Bluebirds, Haverfordwest County.

The home side took the lead after half an hour, scoring from a corner through Lee Jenkins, but Barry equalised before the break when Josh Graham beat the defence and slid the ball round the keeper.

Barry faced a harder second half though. Haverfordwest again scored from a corner, Jack Wilson getting the vital header this time. Two more goals came through lapses at the back, former Barry player, Rhys Abbruzzese, scoring his first goal for his new club, and Wilson getting his second of the game.

Despite being 4-1 down, Barry continued to press and when substitute Mo Djalo was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Lewis Brass, Djalo stepped up to score the penalty – his first competitive first team goal for Barry.

Afan Lido vs Barry Town United | JD Cymru South | Match Report

The Port Talbot side took an early lead against Barry from the penalty spot, Liam McCreesh scoring, but were unable to defend against the Barry attack in a weather-affected game, with high winds coming off the sea.

Barry had already equalised when McLaggon scored after half an hour, but bossed the second half.

Intricate work by Fahiya and McLaggon outside the box set up Callum Sainty to fire home after 54 minutes, while Barry’s third came when a shot from outside the box was deflected into his own net by Lido defender, Jackson Hall.

Barry’s fourth goal came from a corner. Kayne McLaggon had failed to get the ball over the line in a goalmouth melee, but was on hand to score direct from the resulting corner.

Barry were level before half-time when Kayne McLaggon equalised, controlling in the box before beating the keeper.

Ammanford took the lead once again after 74 minutes, when Trundle set up Jordan Langley at the back post, but Barry equalised for a second time when McLaggon chased down a defender and the attempted clearance was diverted off McLaggon and into the goal past Ammanford ‘keeper, Joe Massaro.
