Barry Town United x Llamau – Football for Change

Barry Town United Teams Up with Llamau to Tackle Youth Homelessness in Wales

Barry Town United AFC is proud to announce a powerful new partnership with Llamau, a charity working throughout Wales supporting young people and women experiencing homelessness. This landmark collaboration will use the platform of football to drive meaningful social change — and invites commercial partners to join the mission.

Under the banner “Football for Change,” Barry Town United and Llamau will deliver a series of high-impact community campaigns throughout the 2025–26 season. From fundraising walks to match day activations, the partnership will raise vital awareness and funding to help young people at risk of homelessness build brighter futures.

“This partnership goes far beyond football,” said Ollie Waterhouse, Commercial Manager at Barry Town United. “It’s about giving young people a second chance, and using the power of our club to open doors. We’re inviting sponsors and local businesses to stand with us and with Llamau to create real, measurable change in our community.”

Barbara Redmore, Corporate Partnership Manager for Llamau said “  “We’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Barry Town. It’s a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and vital funds for our work, and we’re so excited to stand alongside a club that shares our commitment to supporting people in our communities. We can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Llamau – What We Do.

At Llamau we believe that no-one should ever have to experience homelessness. But for thousands of people in Wales, homelessness is a frightening reality.

Many people think the job of a homelessness charity will be to provide accommodation – a safe place to stay.

Llamau knows that ending homelessness is not as simple as putting a roof over someone’s head. Our preventative services help the young people and women we support to build the confidence and skills required to break the cycle of homelessness and move forward into independent lives.

Keep an eye on our exciting campaigns, starting with The Long Walk Home!

A circular walk incorporating Jenner Park and the Barry coastline begins at Jenner Park, heading towards Barry Island, we will follow the Coast Path around the island, and then return to Jenner Park via the town.

Start at Jenner Park

We’ll kick things off where it all begins – Jenner Park Stadium. It’s more than just a ground, it’s a meeting place for our town and our supporters.

From the Ground to the Island

From Jenner Park we’ll head through Holton Road and make our way down towards Barry Island. Just like heading to an away day, the walk is about moving together with a bit of buzz and banter along the way, stopping off and taking lots of photos!

Onto the Coast Path

Once we hit the Island, we’ll join the Wales Coast Path. It loops around the northern side of the Island and gives us some cracking views – a proper reminder of how special Barry Town is.

Walking the Island

From Jackson’s Bay to the harbour arm and the Dock Lighthouse, we’ll follow the path right around Barry Island. It’s a chance to take in the sights and enjoy some fresh sea air.

Back to Jenner Park

We’ll finish the loop back where we started – at Jenner Park. Just like a matchday, everything comes back to the ground and the community around it, right in time for kick-off

Why It Matters

This isn’t just a walk. It’s about Barry Town United standing shoulder to shoulder with Llamau, raising awareness and showing support for those in our community who need it most. Every step we take together helps shine a light on that message.

Joshua Bernard Joins Barry Town United

Barry Town United are delighted to welcome midfielder Joshua Bernard to Jenner Park ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 19-year-old midfielder joins the club subject to international clearance. Comfortable in both defensive and box-to-box roles, Joshua brings energy, power, and a willingness to put himself about in the heart of midfield.

Joshua said:
“I’m really excited to get going. Barry’s a proper football club with big ambition, and the chance to be part of that was too good to turn down. I’ll give 100% every game, that’s the only way I know how to play.”

Head of Football, Steve Jenkins, believes Bernard will be a big influence on and off the pitch.

“Joshua’s got that mix of energy and grit that every side needs. He covers every blade of grass, he’s competitive, and he’s a great character. He’ll add a lot to our midfield and to the squad as a whole.”

Joshua is the latest addition to a Barry Town United squad that looks to continue a strong start against Colwyn Bay on Saturday 16th August!

Welcome to The Town, Josh!

U’19s Fight Back to Claim Dramatic Win at Llanelli

Barry Town produced a spirited second-half comeback to secure a thrilling 3–2 victory away at Llanelli on Saturday.

The match came just a week after the heartbreak of a 97th-minute defeat to Haverfordwest, and the challenge for the squad was to lift themselves mentally and physically. However, optimism was high following a strong midweek performance in a friendly against Weston-super-Mare, and the team travelled west full of confidence.

Barry got off to a dream start when Harry Sturgess opened the scoring with a superb strike. But after taking the lead, the visitors eased off, allowing Llanelli back into the game. The hosts levelled through a well-taken free kick before striking again on the counterattack, sending Barry into the break 2–1 down despite much of the play going against the run of events.

Managerial changes at half-time proved decisive. Joe Case was introduced into the game and immediately transformed the game, helping Barry dominate possession and pin Llanelli deep in their own half. Case’s influence soon paid off as he netted twice, turning the match on its head and giving Barry a 3–2 advantage.

In the dying moments, goalkeeper Luke made a stunning save to preserve the lead, ensuring Barry left with all three points.

Case’s game-changing display earned him the Man of the Match award, highlighting the impact of an inspired substitution.

Barry now turn their attention to Wednesday night’s clash against Merthyr Town, aiming to build on this hard-fought victory and keep their momentum rolling

Barry Town vs Aberystwyth Town – Match Preview

Barry Town United return to competitive action Saturday with Aberystwyth making the trip to Jenner Park Stadium in the Nathaniel MG Cup second round.

Town’s last meeting with Aberystwyth came in March with Town running out 2–1 winners at Jenner Park. The visitors kicked off their Cyrmu South campaign last weekend and secured a 2–1 win against Llantwit Major.

Callum McKenzie replaced outgoing manager Antonio Corbiseiro in the summer. The 43 year old Welshman has previously managed Newton where he took charge of 14 games between November 2024 and April 2025.

Aberystwyth have had a busy summer with 16 players leaving the club and 17 arriving as the club look to bounce back to the Cymru Premier at the first time of asking.

Saturday’s visitors made it all the way to final of this competition last season but eventually lost 1–0 to TNS at the final hurdle. Town reached the semi final of this competition last season but just like Aberystwyth lost out to TNS.

Kick off is at 14:30 at Jenner Park Stadium on Saturday!
